These are Lang jujube or Chinese date, yet another exotic tropical fruit grown in South California backyards. The round, parrot and reddish color drupes are crisp and super-delicious. I just love to sink my teeth into the spongy flesh. These fruits ripen in autumn and with their striking colors look like Christmas baubles against the drooping green branches.
