Fauna: Tide pool creatures..........

Countless barnacles adhered to submerged rocks in Laguna Beach....

I have collected this assemblage of tide pool animals from Laguna Beach (though it was forbidden, but picking a few, that too dead critters won't hurt anyone, I decided). The shells of the mussels, limpets, scallops, barnacles and snails, washed in fresh water, dried on paper towel and filled in a glass bowl, now enhance the beauty of our mantelpiece.

A man busy in gathering clams and mussels attached to the rocky shores of Long Beach..... Its quite interesting watching him dig the molluscs using a shovel and collecting in bucket. They say, these edible bivalves make incredible gustatory delights.........
