Observation: Tree Graffiti........

I discovered this heavily defaced tree in the middle of the chilly Mojave Desert, California. The trunk where the bark had been peeled, letters and hearts were marked. I was used to such type of vandalization in historical monuments, tourist places, temples and public places in India. Since then, I have observed such unsightly tree graffiti in bamboo stalks in San Diego Zoo and agave leaves in nature trails of Griffith Park. The reckless lot indulging in such form of destruction do not know that they are compromising not only the aesthetic beauty of nature, but also risking environmental safety. The runoff of these marker pen chemicals are not much biodegradable.

An aspen tree with bark scribbled........
