Observation: Distant mountains............

The magnificent blue mountains limiting the horizon on our way to Hoover dam, Nevada. I was left transfixed with the layers of jagged mountains sporting variable hues of blue. Rummaging through the literature, I got to know that Rayleigh scattering effect is responsible for the misty blue colors. Blue light in the spectrum has the shortest wavelength, thus gets scattered most....

Snow-smeared peaks of San Bernardino  mountains.........
