Plant: Tumbleweed....another symbol arid South West......

A ball of tumbleweed seen by the sidewalks..It is about to detach and roll...Another bonus of living in South California..watching these spheres of weed blowing along the streets..

Battalions of them growing on the sloped  canyons..........

Detached and ready to tumble............

Stranded on an island in Lake Powell...

Some of them lodged on the roof of Upper Antelope Canyon, Page....during the desert flash flood.....

One growing on the bluffs of Torrey Pines state park..........

But, this is how they look in autumn...green and fresh...

It was a cold, wind December evening......as we were driving down the road, we spotted a car-sized roll of tumbleweed perched in the middle of the road....we brushed past it, which seemed surreal.....
