Juncus ..common name rushes...a grass, thriving in US South West, on which native Americans depended...they weave baskets, mats, thatches etc...
I took these shots at Jeffrey trail, Irvine....
I wonder if they ate the seeds too? Because it looks like edible Teff grass...
