Fauna: A loquat for the squirrel..............

While riding bike along Bristol Street, I was attracted towards this ripe fruit-laden, lone loquat tree standing by the creek. In autumn, I had been treated with its exquisite aroma and in winter, I had seen the myriad green fruits burdening the tree. Lured by the luscious fruits, I  stopped and plucked about two dozens of them and filled my cycle basket. I  was on my way to the Upper Newport Bay and had not carried lunch box. I was happy at the prospect of this exotic fruit luncheon. As I rode past the golf course, like every other time, paused to have a glance at the scenic panorama. I took photographs of the bumble bee humming about the profuse African daisy bed. Then I saw a fox squirrel standing under the shadow of a giant Aleppo pine. I felt the urge to share my surplus lunch with the poor guy, now that sweetgums, pine nuts or acorns are not that easy to find. I whistled at the critter and it crept towards me. I rolled a loquat towards it. Initially dubious, it sniffed at it, then picked it. The squirrel looked very glad at the offer and crawled up the horizontal pine branch to sit comfortably and devour the juicy fruit. It was contentment to watch him relish.......

  1. This cruiser is what happens when you mix a classical-styled bicycle with a vibrant color pallet Hermosa Beach.
