Observation: Lessons from resilient plants........

Plants seen in the underneath pictures may be nondescript in taxonomic hierarchy or in terms of economic parameter. But, the message they convey is precious.
Life thrives even in barren rocks. This unidentified, solitary plant growing from the crevice is a classic example. I wonder from where it derives its nutrients and water. Picture taken in nature trails adjacent to Griffith Park,  Los Angeles.

After the heavy downpour, the deluge of drainage water seemed potent enough to uproot the fragile plant. The plant braced against the force and retained viability...

Then the other day, the fig sapling overhanging precariously from the Freeway Overpass stunned me. To me, the future of the juvenile tree looked bleak, yet unperturbed of the uncertainty, it penetrated roots deeper and inched for the sun further.

A pine sapling growing from the date palm trunk.......

Also this plant abloom with cheerful yellow flowers took me by surprise. The tiny but tough plant has grown and proliferated on the hot sand of Huntington State Beach...

This tiny one was growing on the sedimentary rock walls of Zion......

A Brazil paper germinating from a pile of pebbles...

Future of this young eucalyptus looks bleak...yet, unperturbed it grows......

A pine growing atop Devil's postpile monument.........

A single true green plant in the vast landscape captured in the arid Owens Valley.......

Tender branches sprouting from a chopped stump of eucalyptus.....

A wind-swept slanted torrey pine tree on the shore of its namesake beach.....

Plants surviving and blooming in the harsh climate near Hoover dam...

A lone conifer holds against the snow blanket in Lassen National park...

Trees growing out of the eroding cliffs near Deception Pass, Washington...

The famous tree at Kalaloch beach, Olympic National Park...a victim of landslide and soil erosion..just hanging on..

The portulaca planted just the day before, blooms...looks as if sprouting from the soil itself...

And this lush pothos vine is growing in our patio...it was almost dead, when we decided to tend to it and now see the result.....
