Joy: A song sparrow for morning alarm........

In our Irvine apartment...just outside our bedroom window, a thick hedge of mock-orange and Indian hawthorn grows..

They are shadowed by jacaranda......

Mock-orange's citrusy smell is appealing...

Indian hawthorn comes alive in spring....a sea of pink..inviting a swarm of bees..

In that hedges, a number of birds have built nests....among them song sparrows...
Often we spot them perched on the iron fence, belting out songs..
Its on a rainy day.....

We don't even need to set our alarm...it's chatter is a mildly annoying but mostly welcome morning wake-up call...way way better than the swishing sound from the street or the honking vehicles...
