This evil plant is puncture vine (Tribulus terrestris), often found encroaching the sidewalks of South California. This weed with thorny burrs are known to be a nuisance for bike tires. My new bike developed flat tires pierced by its scattered seeds.
I wondered why the authorities do not weed these noxious creepers. One day, to my satisfaction, I saw the weeds uprooted and heaped by the sidewalk of my most-frequented Bristol Street.
