Lichen (a symbiotic entity made of algae and fungi)......see their various forms........
Crustose lichen......... embedded to rocks ......
Foliose lichen.......leafy contour.......
Fruticose lichen.......
Spanish moss......
Red cap lichen or British soldiers lichen (Cladonia sp.)....seen them at Olympic National Park...
Though I have spotted them before in Laguna wilderness in South California as well..
