Discovery: Tree pollarding............

For the very first time, when I saw this ghostly tree, I was stunned. Thought perhaps, it's a kind of topiary. Then one day, I learned that this tree has been pollarded.
Pollarding means pruning the apical branches in late autumn for induction of better sprouting  of foliage in spring. Quite a good number of eucalyptus, olive, California sycamore and coral trees standing  by the streets  sported this peculiar bald look all through the winter.
Coral.........

Olive.........

Sycamore..........
