Plant: Yellow oleander in California...............

Yellow oleander (Thevetia peruviana) or lucky nut is medium-sized shrub with fragrant yellow or apricot-colored blooms.......
I have grown up seeing them, playing in their branches in India.....the blooms used to hold religious significance...........
It was pleasant to see them in South California...nostalgic value..
Several of them graced the San Diego University garden......
And now, I get to see them in abundant along the nature trails of Irvine, CA....
Its pure bliss to inhale their sweet fragrance.. in late summer..

They create nice mosaic with the rust-color of sycamores...

Petals strewn on the ground..

However, it is important to know that, this tree being an Apocyanaceae family member is toxic..
Especially, the angular nuts.....they contain cardiac glycosides....which can collpase one's heart within no time..

In India its consumption is common way of suicide.......stay away from it...
Though, I have seen goats munch on these fruits...........its all about having the enzyme to degrade the toxin or not......
