Observation: Serene sidewalks in our Mission Valley hood.....

This is the tree-shaded sidewalk near our house, Mission Valley, San Diego...Among all the sidewalks in the neighborhood, I like this one..for the variety of trees and varied shades of foliage...A nice screen from the scorching San Diego sun and treat for the eyes...




Place: Native flora of Mission trails regional park.....

I enjoy hiking the local wilderness for it gives a firsthand knowledge of the native flora and motivates me to learn their ethno-botanical importance..this weekend, I hit the Mission trails regional park, situated right in the center of San Diego city....its  beautiful throughout the year.. with its diverse vegetation.......the abundance of plants can't be summarized here..so, let me present a selected few..the common members ........

Place: Wildlife in San Diego safari...

San Diego zoo and safari is our absolute favorite...that's why its our consecutively third annual membership....The safari, located in Escondido is supposed to mimic the Savanna...a large variety of animals call it home...some decent shots of fabulous wildlife there...
A black-crowned night heron...

A shoebill bird.........African native with unusual-looking bill...adapted to pull out mussels from mud...

Pelicans.........

A bat, deep in sleep.....not to fear them as vampire.........but as potential vector of ebola disease..yes, they carry ebola virus......
