When we arrived at the dense conifer forest of Lassen National Park, it was an exhilarating moment...piles of snow, imposing peaks, giant boulders, lakes, sulfur springs, interesting flora it had it all.
An imposing peak ....Looks like a cinder cone covered in snow...
My spouse mimicking Sisyphus....
For defying Zeus and Hades, Sisyphus was punished in Tartarus, the lowest region of the Underworld. He would roll a massive boulder to the top of a steep hill, which would roll down again. It was a never-ending task...
It was refreshing to walk among the Jeffrey, lodgepole and white pines, firs and hemlocks...
Here I am standing by a fire-burnt, dead tree....
Hubby is enjoying the tranquility....
Here, he has grabbed a lichen-encrusted twig and a pine cone...
I am happy to spot this lake in the forest...
The most-rewarding part was stumbling upon the patches of coral-red snow plants on the floor of pine forest...
