Got a crate of pomegranates..
While peeling them, got this idea..
Chopped the fruit cover and and steeped in water..........
After half an hour removed the peels..strained the water........its reddish.....
Almost like raspberry juice......
Compared to plain water...
So, the color is imparted by tannin in the peels..an astringent......
As a kid, in my village in India, rural folks used to borrow pomegranate from our orchard...to cure diarrhea of their children........because of this tannins......
