When I saw quite a lot of Great horned owl statues installed atop roofs or pergolas in houses throughout Costa Mesa, I turned curious about the purpose. After much browsing, recently I learned that the objective is to scare away the raptors as hawks and vermins like rats, mices, squirrels, rabbits. Interesting factoid, is not it? I wonder whether the figurine serves the motive but, undeniably, they accentuates landscape.
