Observation: Lessons from resilient plants........

Plants seen in the underneath pictures may be nondescript in taxonomic hierarchy or in terms of economic parameter. But, the message they convey is precious.

Life thrives even in barren rocks. This unidentified, solitary plant growing from the crevice is a classic example. I wonder from where it derives its nutrients and water. Picture taken in nature trails adjacent to Griffith Park,  Los Angeles.

After the heavy downpour, the deluge of drainage water seemed potent enough to uproot the fragile plant. The plant braced against the force and retained viability...

Then the other day, the fig sapling overhanging precariously from the Freeway Overpass stunned me. To me, the future of the juvenile tree looked bleak, yet unperturbed of the uncertainty, it penetrated roots deeper and inched for the sun further.

Also this plant abloom with cheerful yellow flowers took me by surprise. The tiny but tough plant has grown and proliferated on the hot sand of Huntington State Beach...

This tiny one was growing on the sedimentary rock walls of Zion......
