Knowledge: New terminologies for me...............

Attapulgus clay: Palygorskite or attapulgite is a magnesium aluminium phyllosilicate with formula (Mg,Al)2Si4O10(OH)·4(H2O) that occurs in a type of clay soil
Cismontane chaparral: this side of the mountain
Glauca: glaucous in Latin meaning "bluish-grey or green"
Matorral: A Spanish word, along with tomillares, for shrubland, thicket or bushes. It is used in naming and describing a Mediterranean climate ecosystem in Southern Europe.
Petrichor:  the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil
