Plant: European Holly berries in autumn and winter.......

An European Holly shrub (Ilex aquifolium) in our apartment in Cost Mesa. Recently, I discovered this attractive, ornamental plant with tough, glossy, serrate margined, spiny leaves and red berries. like many other autumn berries, these drupes looked appealing. However, I learned it is toxic to humans, but important diet for birds. This beautiful twigs are often used in wreaths for Christmas decorations.



There is another variety of Holly that has smoother contour, though pointy tip.....
